BIOGRAPHY
Spiros Liolios was born on the 12th December 1939 in Tsatista, Northern Epirus. He graduated from the School of Fine Arts in Tirana and his works of paintings and ceramic, where he finally specialized, have been honored with many prizes.
He taught in the high schools of the city Avlona.
In 1973 he was given permission to open and run a small state-owned workshop of ceramic, where he also taught. In the same year he became a member of the Union of Fine Arts of Albania.
In 1976 he was arrested by the police under the accusation of resistance and propaganda against the regime of Enver Hoca. He was condemned to 8 years in prison. In 1982 a big amnesty was given to political prisoners, so he was released from prison and was placed in an agricultural cooperation as a worker.
In 1991 he came to Greece with his family and Kalamata became his permanent place of residence. He spent some years working and creating works of art in painting, ceramics and iconography.
He has participated in many exhibitions in Albania, of painting as well as ceramics. Many of his creations are exhibited in the country’s museums.
Nowadays, he realizes personal exhibitions in Kalamata, where he works and creates in a private workshop, and at the same time he keeps a workshop and ceramics shop in Avlona, Albania.
